Girard-Perregaux debuted its first timepiece in collaboration with Aston Martin, who officially entered a partnership with GP in 2021.
The Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition is presented in a 44 mm x 15.52 mm grade 5 titanium case that’s water-resistant to 30 meters and has been treated in black DLC and that has box-type sapphire crystals on both the dial and movement sides.
With no mainplate Girard-Perregaux’s famous three bridges support all of the movement components. The bridges like the case are manufactured in lightweight grade 5 titanium with a black DLC treatment. Each bridge has polished angles, although it’s unclear if that was done by hand or by machine.
The mainspring barrel and the micro-rotor that winds it up to the maximum 60-hour power reserve level are supported by the top bridge at 12 o’clock. ASTON MARTIN is printed on the vertical flank of the micro-rotor with a white luminescent treatment that shines blue at night. The center bridge supports the skeletonized, black DLC treated Dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands. On the lowest portion of the dial, the third bridge supports the ultra-light tourbillon cage and escapement system. A blue hand is affixed to the 60-second tourbillon cage to indicate seconds.
Uniquely, each index is both inside the glass and outside the glass, which creates a unique look that differentiates this special edition. The indices and hands have a white lume that glows blue. In total the 3Hz automatic caliber GP09400-1683 has 260 components, 27 of which are jewels.
Each Tourbillon Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition is paired with an alligator strap with a rubber effect and a triple folding buckle in grade 5 titanium with black DLC treatment. An additional strap in black calfskin leather, with a rubber alloy injected with white gold on a rubber insert, is also included.
The Tourbillon Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition (Ref. 99296-21-011-BA6A) retails for $146,000 and is available in a limited edition numbered X/18 at authorized retailers now.
