Zeitwinkel’s flagship “273°” watch, with its signature big date display and power reserve indicator, is now available in 18K rose gold. The case measures 42.5 mm in diameter by 13.8 mm in thickness and has a mixture of polished and brushed surfaces.

The top surfaces, caseback, lug edges, and raised areas of the crown are all fully polished. Whereas, the sides of the case and the non-raised areas of the crown have a distinctive “frosted” matt finish that contrasts the shiny surfaces.

The dial color for the rose gold version of the 273° (which is also available in stainless steel) comes in an off-white cream color. Hours and minutes are indicated via rose gold, polished, diamond-cut, Alpha-shaped hands. The chapter ring has applied, polished, diamond-cut rose gold indices marking the hours, and a printed minute track. At 6 o’clock in the small seconds display, with a blued hand the sweeps continuously facetted markers at 15, 30, 45, and 60 seconds, and a circular guilloché pattern.

Located at 11 o’clock, is the brand’s patented big date display, which reliably moves to the next day exactly at midnight. According to Zeitwinkel, “To be able to install the large date display in this unusual yet functionally logical position, the date mechanism had to be completely redeveloped. We have received a patent for this construction.”
Between 2 and 3 o’clock in the power reserve indicator displays the remaining mainspring energy from 0-72 hours via a blued hand.

Powering the 273° is manufacture caliber ZW0103; an automatic movement with 49 jewels, 387 components, and a frequency of 4Hz. It is based on the caliber ZW0102, with the addition of an in-house developed complication for displaying the remaining running time and the date. The plates and bridges are in German silver plates that are chamfered and hand-decorated with perlage and Geneva stripes. The oscillating weight is skeletonized with a gold outer weight and a brushed surface.

A convex sapphire crystal protects the dial, with a flat sapphire crystal attached with 6 screws on the caseback. The crown is 8 mm in diameter and features dual o-Rings that protect the watch from water, even without locking. In fact, Zeitwinkel guarantees water will not enter the case even if the crown is raised. The water resistance is rated to 50 meters.

Zeitwinkel abstains from using reptile leather because of its sustainability, instead, they use hand-sewn calfskin straps that are embossed with a Louisiana alligator pattern, matched with a folding clasp in rose gold and engraved with “Zeitwinkel.” A rubber strap is optional.
