This week, Porsche Design debuted the first of four limited-edition timepieces accompanying the launch of Porsche 911 Heritage Design cars.
The Chronograph 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition comes in a 42 mm x 14.9 mm titanium case, with bead-blasted, gold-colored lugs and silver-colored crown, bezel, and pushers — powered by a modified chronometer-certified ETA 7750 (or Sellita equivalent).
Adding to the matte theme of the watch is a non-shiny black dial featuring a brushed pattern with large concentric circles. Chronograph counters at 12 and 6 o’clock stand apart with a stamped azurage pattern. The outermost ring features a black frosted surface with numeric hours printed in green and white printed hour indices just inside on the chapter ring, along with minute/second hash marks printed in between in white. A series of four green lines, in the same color as the hour numerals, encircle the dial, except in between 11 and 12, which is in red. The chronograph counters and the date are also in the same green hue.
A half-circle at 9 o’clock has the words “911 Targa 4S” in gold next to “CHRONOMETER CERTIFIED” in white. Opposite this at 3 o’clock is the Porsche Design logo in gold. Blackened skeleton baton-shaped hands indicate the hours and minutes, while a varnished white hand indicated chronograph seconds.
On the caseback, is a rotor specially made to match the wheels of the new limited edition 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design, including a full-color Porsche shield logo in the center, and a blackened area underneath made to look like ceramic brakes. Another nice touch is a choice of a red or black leather strap that’s made from the same automotive grade leather used inside the Porsche 911.
Like the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design automobile — which was also unveiled this week — the watch is limited to 992 numbered pieces. And apparently the number of the car matches up with the watch (engraved on caseback).
The Porsche Design Chronograph 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition will be exclusively available to future owners of the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and can be ordered at Porsche dealerships in the US.
To provide context, there are comparable versions of this watch available directly from Porsche Design starting as low as $4,200. The retail for this particular limited edition is $14,000.
