The team at Hodinkee introduced their second limited edition NOMOS Glashütte collaborative timepiece today. Bringing back the discontinued Tangente Sport for one last run, the Tangente Sport Chronometer for Hodinkee features a special colorway and is limited to 300 numbered pieces.
The Tangente Sport Hodinkee Limited Edition comes in a relatively small, by modern standards, stainless steel case measuring 36.5 mm x 7.5 mm, which was in production from 2003 to 2013. The dial has a unique matte gray lacquered finish with a snailed small seconds counter. Topping the dial is a thin steel bezel and flat sapphire crystal. This is a “Sport” watch and accordingly, the water-resistance is 100 meters.
Writing on the dial is minimalist, with printed black Arabic numerals and indices, except at 6 o’clock. Surrounding the hours is a white transferred open chapter ring. Heat-blued baton-shaped hands are used to indicate hours, minutes, and small seconds. The hour and minute hands have a small strip of white luminous material which glows green in low-light. As we’ve come to expect, there’s no date window.
Underneath the dial, is NOMOS’ in-house hand-wound Alpha movement, a certified chronometer version, with a power reserve of 43-hours. And while the movement is nicely finished with rhodium-plating, Glashütte ribbing, perlage, blued screws, and the company’s signature sunburst ratchet wheel – it’s all covered by a solid stainless steel caseback, secured by 6 screws.
The caseback is engraved with the edition number “XXX/300″ and “Limited Edition for HODINKEE.” The NOMOS Tangente Sport Limited Edition for Hodinkee comes with a stainless steel bracelet and a dark blue Nato-style textile strap, both with an 18 interlug width. (Ref. 501.S6) Retail is $2,450.
