Today, Longines announced yet another Heritage timepiece, this one inspired by one of its pilot watches dating from the 1950s. They have introduced a number of pieces to the Heritage collection this year, which we talked about here, here and here.
The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph has the same diameter as the original, at 47.50 mm. It also has the same dial with a 24-hour scale in the center. It is shown with a silver dial, and is also available in black.
The case is stainless steel and is polished to a mirrored-finish. The caseback is steel, and has been decorated with the Longines winged hourglass logo, which has been in use since 1889.
According to Longines, “The model on which this new creation is based was fitted with a calibre originally intended for a pocket watch and later adapted for use in a wrist-watch. The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph houses an L789 self-winding, mechanical movement. This new column-wheel chronograph calibre, produced exclusively for Longines, is an adaptation of Longines’ own single push-piece movement.”
A single chronograph button that is built-in to the crown: starts, stops and resets the chronograph counter. The long central chronograph hand counts elapsed times up to 60-seconds (1-minute).
The inner chapter ring has a 24-hour scale, which coincides with the short blued leaf-shaped central hour hand. The long blued leaf-shaped central hand indicates minutes on the outer scale. The small subsidiary display has a continuously sweeping seconds hand. The date is displayed at 12 o’clock on the 24-hour scale.
The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph is fitted on a black or brown alligator strap to match the color of the dial. Each watch is individually numbered. The price is $4,800.
