According to Apple, the “Apple Watch has become an intelligent guardian for your health.” And is the “#1 Watch in the World.”

The new Apple Watch Series 4 comes in two larger sizes of 40 mm and 44 mm (up from 38 mm and 42 mm).

Apple has pushed screens to the edges, added more rounded corners, and despite having 30%+ larger screens with minimal case size, the new Apple Watch Series 4 is actually thinner, and takes up less total volume than Series 3.

Furthermore, every part of the (UI) user interface has been redesigned as part of Watch OS 5. There are all-new watch faces, such as a primary version with up to 8 complications. There are also 3 new faces for the Breathe app watch, to help you stay more mindful.

The speakers are 50% louder, the digital crown now has haptic feedback, and the new 64-bit processor has up to 2X the processing power of its predecessor.

Perhaps, most interestingly, the new accelerometer is more sensitive (and can detect a fall). The marquee feature is called “Fall Detection” and as you might expect based on the name, it can notify loved ones if you fall.

For the first time ever on an over-the-counter device, Apple has a built-in Electrocardiogram function (aka ECG). Medically, this is incredibly innovative, and will surely be a lifesaver for many.

All of these features were made possible while maintaining the same 18-hour all-day battery life.

All existing band colors and styles work with all versions of the Apple Watch.

The new Apple Watch Series 4 is available in a variety of colorways and strap/bracelet configurations. It’s worth noting that there were no ceramic versions at launch (it’s unclear if ceramic was discontinued).

Aluminum comes in silver, gold, or space gray. Stainless steel comes in polished, space black, or a new gold-plated stainless version.

Series 4 with GPS starts at $399, and $499 with GPS+ Cellular. The stainless steel versions start at $799 and include GPS + Cellular. Nike + versions start at $399. Hermes models start at $1,249.

Ordering starts this Friday, Sept 14th, with delivery beginning the following week. The Series 3 will also stay available starting at $279. Watch OS 5 will be available Sept 17th.
