Introduced in March, the Bellytanker Bronze BR V2-94 is Bell & Ross’ latest retro style bronze chronograph.

The case measures 41 mm in diameter, like this stainless steel model, but with manufactured with a golden-hued bronze alloy (CuAI7Si2) that will presumably gain patina over time via oxidation. The bezel, crown, and pushers are also made of the same alloy.

A black anodized aluminum ring, inserted in the fixed bronze bezel, features a tachymeter scale that allows for speed calculations when used in conjunction with the 30-minute chronograph.

This is Bell & Ross’ vintage-inspired collection, as denoted by the “VR” in the reference number (Ref. BRV294-BR/SCA) and features a domed sapphire crystal as you would expect to see on watches in the distant past.

The jet black dial is contrasted by two bronze/gold colored subdials, one for chronograph minutes and the other for small seconds. Gold colored baton-shaped hands indicate hours, minutes, and chronograph seconds, with black hands contrasting the golden snailed finish subdials. Gold-colored applied indices mark the hours, except at 12 and 6 o’clock where gold-colored Arabic numerals have been printed.

Driving the hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph, and quickset date is an outsourced 4Hz automatic ETA 2894-2 caliber which has 37 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. This movement has a basic industrial finish and is visible through the sapphire caseback, although heavy obstructed by a black Bellytanker motif that’s been laser engraved on the glass.

The watch has a locking crown and pushers and is water-resistant to 100 meters. Comes with a black calfskin leather strap and satin finished bronze clasp. Limited edition of 999 pieces. Retail is $4,990.
