BASELWORLD 2010: From a position of strength

The current planning status shows that BASELWORLD is established at the topmost level. Precisely in economically critical times, the World Watch and Jewellery Show is able to operate from a position of strength: an increasing number of exhibitors are concentrating their show participation exclusively on Basel.

Preparations for BASELWORLD 2010 (March 18 to 25, 2010) have been successfully launched. The show management is particularly pleased at the number of registrations already received for the next World Watch and Jewellery Show. All the eminent brands will be present in Basel once again next spring. This continuity shows just how important the world show is for providing stimulus in the luxury goods industry.

Concentration process strengthening BASELWORLD
A large number of brands are putting all their effort into their participa tion at BASELWORLD, as the industry highlight, and are refraining from taking part in any other shows. At economically critical times, in particular, it is essential for marketing budgets to be deployed to optimum effect. This is something that is only possible in Basel, since the show boasts a uniquely high quality of professional visitors and buyers.

Christoph Wellendorff, Managing Director of Wellendorff, explains: “We are concentrating our show activities on BASELWORLD alone, since it is here that we can display our brand and products in the optimum manner. Only in Basel do we meet up with our key specialist dealers from all over the world – and we present all the innovations in our collections to our jewellers at BASELWORLD.” This concentration process is strengthening the position of the World Watch and Jewellery Show in relation to other specialist shows on both the exhibitor and the buyer side.

Topmost priority: exhibitor quality
The show management is, once again, not setting out to increase the number of exhibitors for 2010. “As in the past, our topmost priority is the quality of our exhibitors, and we wish to provide them with suffi cient space for their presentations”, says Sylvie Ritter, Show Director of BASELWORLD.

Increasing the number of exhibitors would not be consistent with this. And the fact that not only the big global brands but also young brands take part in BASELWORLD on a regular basis shows that BASELWORLD has become established at a high level. Sylvie Ritter confirms: “We are convinced that we will further consoli date our position as the globally leading show and the ‘Who’s Who’ of the watch and jewellery sector”.
