Swiss watchmaker Armin Strom debuted its latest version of the Gravity Equal Force today — in a new rose gold and black variation.

The new case measures the same 41 mm x 12. 65 mm as the original Gravity Equal Force System 78, but is constructed of a solid 18K rose gold instead of stainless steel.

With the Gravity Equal Force — and virtually all of Armin Strom timepieces — the movement components are openworked and visible on both sides of the watch and protected by sapphire crystals front and back.

On full display, all components have premium finishes (including Geneva stripes, chamfering, perlage, frosting, satin brushing, and polishing) and comprise not just the movement but the dial as well. The three bridges on the dial, for instance, are now crafted in rose gold to match the case. Contrasting the rich red hues of the gold is the black frosted mainplate which acts as the background.

The gorgeous finish of the black azurage stamped (concentric circles) off-center dial features contrasting gold markings for the hours, minutes, and small seconds. Lance-shaped, skeletonized, rose gold hour and minute hands (manufactured by Armin Strom – and finished by hand), and a gold baton-shaped small seconds hand, indicate the time.

Armin Strom’s uniquely developed power reserve indication sits on top of the mainspring barrel cover, in the lower right quadrant of the dial, rotating as the barrel unwinds, and showing approximately how much of the 72-hour power reserve remains at any time.

The in-house caliber ASB19 automatic movement features a micro-rotor to wind the mainspring, measures 35.52 mm x 11.67 mm, features 202 components, 28 jewels, and beats at 3.5Hz.

Most importantly — unlike any other automatic mechanical watch available — there’s a specially developed stop-work declutch mechanism, combined with automatic winding for the first time, which results in consistent power delivery to the balance over the majority of the 72-hour power reserve. So you get a more consistent amplitude across the entire power delivery curve, thereby enhancing rate stability and chronometric precision.

The Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force System 78 Rose Gold has a water-resistance is rated to 30 meters and is delivered with a black alligator leather strap with 18K rose gold buckle (a double folding clasp is optional).

Retail is $26,600. Learn more at Armin Strom.
