Bathing Ape (aka BAPE) is a Japanese clothing brand founded in 1993 — which sells t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and other streetwear — and currently has 19 stores in Japan. After collaborating last year on a timepiece, in 2020 Seiko and BAPE have partnered to create another limited-edition timepiece.

Together the two brands designed a new mechanical dive watch — called the BAPE x Seiko ABC Camo — with a black plated steel case and bezel, and BAPE’s signature black and gray camo on the dial. While there’s no BAPE branding on the dial side, apart from the camo, the caseback has “A BATHING APE LIMITED EDITION” and the edition number printed on it.

The watch functions include hours, minutes, and central seconds, as well as day/date, powered by an automatic Seiko caliber 4R36. The indices, hands, and 12 o’clock bezel dot are luminous.

Each BAPE x Seiko ABC Camo limited edition timepiece comes on an accordion-style rubber diver strap with the signature BAPE black and gray camo on the ends and “BAPE” printed on one-piece of the strap. The watch also comes in a special collectible black and gray camo pattern limited edition presentation box.

There will be presumably up to 999 pieces, judging from the “000” marked on the sample caseback. The retail price has not yet been announced. This will be sold in Japan only, beginning January 25, 2020, at BAPE.com.
