Nabucco Titanium Chronograph by RAYMOND WEIL

raymond-nabucco_titanium3_.jpg

[ via Raymond Weil ]

Raymond Weil recently introduced a new titanium and stainless steel version of the Nabucco Chronograph. The case measures 46 mm in diameter and is 15.6 mm thick. The movement is a Valjoux 7750 automatic with a 46 hour power reserve. In addition to the continual small seconds and chronograph 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers, this robust mechanical caliber also offers a rapidly adjustable date function. A tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel enables the calculation of average speeds. The sapphire crystal is treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides, for excellent readability. I really like how Raymond Weil has gone more upscale and sporty with this new collection. Suggested retail is $4400.

Romvlvs Chronograph by CORUM

corum_romulus_chrono__.jpg

[ via Corum ]

What more evocative name could one imagine for a legendary watch than that of ROMVLVS, founder and first ruler of Rome? A legendary watch because, right from its introduction in 1966, it was the first to dare to display the hour numerals on the bezel instead of the dial. It now ranks as a classic model built on the noblest watchmaking traditions and has become one of the four main pillars of the CORUM collection.

Romvlvs Chronograph is a new development in the Romvlvs line, adding a complication that provides traditional functions and features even more refined finishing details which enhance its classic, stylized and elegant design. Romvlvs Chronograph is also a first in the current collection, since it is the initial chronograph in the Romvlvs line by CORUM.

In celebration of the first ever Grand Prix to be raced in SINGAPORE , in the city itself and also by night, Audemars Piguet presents a limited edition of a dream watch for speed-lovers: the Royal Oak Offshore Singapore Grand Prix Chronograph. This newcomer to the extreme sports collection bears eloquent witness to the symbiotic relationship between the automotive and watch industries. The same concern for detail, the same obsession with design and the tireless pursuit of mechanical perfection: such are the common denominators between these two worlds. Consistently cultivating close ties with Formula 1 motor racing through its exceptional partnerships with Rubens Barrichello and Jarno Trulli, as well as with luxury cars through its association with Maserati, Audemars Piguet simply had to be part of the action in Singapore on September 28th. Pagani Zonda F Chrono by CVSTOS

I like the collaboration between Cvstos and Pagani. The end result is a very pleasing design. The Cvstos Pagani Zonda F Chrono is made of a high grade 5 titanium with double sapphire dials. The crown and push pieces feature the same design theme as the car. The rotor was made to replicate the wheel of a Pagani roadster, and of course, is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. A leather strap provides the finishing touch for this ultra sporty timepiece.

XEMEX Piccadilly Chronograph Reserve All Black

Xemex_Piccadilly__.jpg

[ via Xemex ]

The newly launched chronograph from Xemex effortlessly fits in with the fourth series, the Piccadilly, and its striking clarity is again causing a furor.

Just a glance at this chronograph is enough to note the characteristic signature of the renowned Swiss designer Ruedi Külling - the company of origin can clearly be recognized from this elegant timepiece. The sophisticated interplay of time measurement, date and timer functions clearly illustrate the brand's maxims: "Simplicity, functionality and clarity". In accordance with these keywords, the design focuses on the essence; function is more important than formal aesthetics.

Unparalleled with its unostentatious appearance and clear lines, the wafer-thin seeming stainless steel bezel encompasses the dial, shimmering in a sophisticated combination of brown and anthracite - and recedes into the background through the narrow detail on the edge. The dial is the epitome of balance and orderliness, it embodies the whole potential of time measurement pulsing within the brushed stainless steel case.

EBEL 1911 BTR QP Pink Gold

ebel1911btr__.jpg

[ via Ebel ]

For lovers of contemporary architecture and devotees of mechanical watchmaking - including many who are proud to be both - Ebel introduces a stunningly inspired pink gold version of its 1911 BTR Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, issued in an exclusive limited edition of 200.

This spectacular face of this new landmark creation is strongly reminiscent of contemporary architectural achievements such as modern art museums with their large bay windows amid a metal frame creating an alternating pattern of glass and steel. The play on perspective as well as the clever lighting and volume effects all vividly evoke a contemporary work of architecture, while the elegantly understated and subtly contrasting choice of colors inexorably draws the gaze to the intricate workings of the watch mechanism below. The ultimate goal of such sophisticated structures being to highlight the objets d'art inside, it comes as no surprise to learn that the movement inside the alternating slate grey and black openworked dial is fully worthy of such a spectacular stage-setting.

WYLER GENÈVE Limited Edition Tantalum Chronograph

pr_Ambiance_bleu-1_cr_fr.jpg

[ via Wyler Geneve ]

WYLER GENÈVE TANTALIZES WITH A NEW LIMITED-EDITION CHRONOGRAPH

In Wyler Genève's latest limited-edition chronopgraph, the precious metal tantalum is used to make a new ultra-resistant body for the brand's shock-absorbing case. In keeping with tantalum's rarity as a metal, only 88 models of this chronograph will be made available worldwide.

For his misdeeds in Greek mythology, the god Tantalus was condemned to stand knee-deep in water with fresh fruit hanging over his head. Whenever he stooped to drink the water, it would recede out of reach; whenever he reached to grab the fruit, the branches would always be beyond his grasp. This analogy spawned the verb "to tantalise", referring to any attempt to tease someone with something desirable whilst keeping it out of their reach. The derivation also proved apt for the metal discovered in 1802 by Swedish chemist Anders Ekeberg that resists corrosion by acids (even, notably, the aqua regia that can dissolve gold and platinum). MOST WANTED: Oris Williams F1 Team Chronograph

Oris_F1_Dark_fr.jpg

[ via Oris ]

Oris recently introduced the new Williams F1 Team collection, at Baselworld 2008. The new F1 Team Chronograph has the same case dimensions 45 mm x 14 mm and the same reliable Valjoux 7750 movement as the outgoing model, but the new case is made of 316L stainless steel as opposed to titanium. The rubber bracelet appears to be unchanged, however the metal bracelet has been reshaped for a much cleaner look. The dial was changed from carbon fiber to a more refined black/rhodium finish, which looks great. The crystals are the same, a sapphire with an inner anti-reflective coating for the front and a mineral crystal for the caseback. The signature red Oris rotor remains visible through the caseback. The hands are now made of nickel, which further adds to the new look. To top it off Oris redesigned the lugs, making them more flexible, to ensure a close fit next to the wrist.

Basically Oris took a great watch, and made it better.

The F1 Team chronograph comes in four variations, with your choice of either a light or dark dial and a rubber strap or steel bracelet (the dark dial is pictured). The new Oris William F1 Team Chronographs Ref. 679 7614 41 64/74 RS should be available worldwide, for $2895 USD MSRP (rubber strap) and $2950 USD MSRP (steel bracelet), before the end of the year.

The dial is black and orange and the caseback is solid, with the royal marine crown emblem. The movement is automatic mechanical G1732. The watch is a diver watch, even though it was originally intended for use by pilots, and has a water-resistance of 1000 meters. It is currently available for a retail price of $11,000 USD.

It is water-resistant to 100 M, has a quick-lock crown function and a carbon fiber dial. Superluminous coating is applied to the hands, indices, subdials and small seconds hand.
