Martin Bachmann, 46, has been named the new chief executive officer of Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Maurice Lacroix S.A., effective. Nov. 1.

For the past seven years, Bachmann, an executive board member of the luxury Swiss watch brand, has been actively involved in development of the brand as global director of its Marketing/Country Operations division.

Bachman succeeds Philippe C. Merk, 51, who was named CEO of Swiss luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet Holding SA in August, effective Jan. 1, 2009, replacing its long-time CEO, Georges-Henri Meylan. MORE>>

Here is the latest shot of the new Memoire 1. This is the first mechanical watch in the world to feature a memory function. The memory function by itself makes this a very appealing and unique watch, however the design looks a bit clunky. Regardless of looks, or even the price, this limited edition watch will sell.

Here is an image of the new Memoire 1 from Maurice Lacroix. They say this is the first mechanical watch with a memory function. It has a dial with hands for minutes and seconds and a disk to show hours. There is a push button in the crown which allows you to switch from "Time" to "Chrono" mode. The hands and hour disk switch to measure time and then back to a normal watch with the press of the button. You can even toggle back and fourth while the chrono is running. This watch uses 537 components and has yet to be officially introduced, but you can check out the microsite here. The watch production process has not been finalized, but expect it to be completed and ready to be introduced at Baselworld 2008.

The Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Jours Retrograde has a a retrograde day indication. A small hand at 6 o'clock moves one position further to the right each day to indicate the current weekday and when reaches the end of the scale it goes back to the start. This watch is smaller than it looks with a mere 40 mm stainless steel case. It uses the hand-decorated automatic caliber ML 102 with 22 jewels, blued steel screws, Incabloc shock protection, a polished steel pallet and escapement wheel, a Glucydur balance, and a skeletonized rotor. The hand can manually be repositioned without damaging the movement. It has a silver dial with hand-applied Roman numerals.

Maurice Lacroix just introduced the Miros Sport with a big date window at 12 o'clock and a very sporty dial with three chrono dials for the stopwatch function.

Check out this nice looking watch from Maurice Lacroix. High-quality titanium grade 2 was chosen for the 45 mm diameter case and the dial base of the 2x999 pieces limited edition of the Pontos Décentrique GMT, with the result that it is significantly lighter than comparable stainless steel models. The crown is protected by two lugs, the upper of which serves simultaneously as a button for setting the second time zone. The hands for both time zones, the index marks for the minutes, the moon symbol as well as the surface under the date indication are coated with Superluminova so that they are easily legible at night. The strap is in delicately crafted croco leather or vulcanised rubber and has a titanium clasp.
