Stolen GIRARD-PERREGAUX Watches Found

[ via Europastar ]

All of Girard-Perregaux’s stolen watches were found in a bag hidden under an oak tree in Valdahon 48 hours after they had been stolen from the Museum La Villa Marguerite. The burglars had entered the museum pretending to be deliverymen, tying and binding a cleaning lady before escaping with several million Swiss Francs of antique and contemporary timepieces.

A couple of hours after the burglars had escaped; two suspects were stopped by the French gendarmerie in the region of Valdahon. Two cars, corresponding to vehicles the police were looking for, broke through a road blockade, making a u-turn and crossing four lanes. After 45 minutes, the police stopped one of the vehicles, which was travelling the wrong way up a one-way street. The second vehicle, a BMM X5 with German license plates managed to escape.

Burglary at the GIRARD-PERREGAUX Museum

[ via The Watch Quote ]

Thursday 5 July 2007, a burglary with aggression took place this morning at the Girard-Perregaux watch museum, in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Losses are not yet quantified but significant. The Cantonal Police and legal authorities have immediately taken charge of the inquiry.

This Thursday in the morning, two unidentified thieves entered the building, took hostage the Girard-Perregaux employee that was present and fled the scene with the booty.

The victim was not harmed but was transferred to the hospital and is under medical observation. The alarm was given by the Girard-Perregaux employee right after having managed to break free. The amount stolen is not yet known but is judged tobe “significant”. The inquiry is in full swing and it is, for the moment, inappropriate to divulge more detailed information.

Built at the beginning of the 20th Century, the Villa Marguerite is home to the Museum of Girard-Perregaux since 1999. More than 100 historical and contemporary watches –a true historical perspective of watchmaking in general and of Girard- Perregaux in particular– were painstakingly collected and displayed in this prestigious showcase of the Brand.

We would like to encourage anybody with useful information to contact the Cantonal Police on the following telephone number: +41 (0) 32 888 90 00.

Girard-Perregaux Jackpot Tourbillon at BaselWorld

[ Luxist ]

The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon watch combines a Tourbillon and a slot machine equipped with a striking mechanism in a Vintage 1945 case. The top of the dial has three symbols that spin while the bottom part of the watch reveals the tourbillon cage. A handle on the right side of the case sets the three reels in motion which then stop randomly on one of the possible five symbols, while a hammer strikes a gong. Out of the 125 combinations, only one represents the jackpot: the three bells in a row. The 43mm case is done in pink gold. I like the casino theme, but can it help you win at Texas Holdem?

Girard-Perregaux Financial Times Chrono

[ via Kronosclub ]

Here is a new version of the GP Financial Times Chrono which is one of their best selling watches. Girard-Perreguax recently ended their exclusive partnership with Ferrari which is probably not a good thing for GP. Officine Panerai gained the exclusive rights to use the Ferrari brand at Girard-Perregaux's loss. On another note I think Panerai and Ferrari are a much better fit as they are both Italian brands. GP at least has this watch and this is one nice looking watch. I wish them the best as it sounds like they need it. Expect to see this beauty at Baselworld 2007.

Girard-Perregaux BMW Oracle Racing Chrono

Here is a limited edition Girard-Perregaux BMW Oracle Racing Chronograph. It looks like a nice watch and BMW is a great automobile maker, but why did Girard-Perregaux decide to break off their relationship with Ferrari. I am personally happy that they did, because now Officine Panerai has the exclusive rights to produce Ferrari wristwatches.

Girard-Perregaux Cat's Eye Bi-Retrograde

The latest in this line is the Girard-Perregaux Cat's Eye Bi-Retrograde. A poetic marriage between the manufacture’s mechanical movement and a double retrograde indicator (seconds and days of the week), set on a nocturnal mother-of-pearl dial with a delightful grey moon at 12 o’clock, the Cat's Eye Bi-retrograde has just crowned a line that is both very watchmaking in nature – think of the Cat's Eye Tourbillon – and very jewellery in appearance. With very few other examples, this timepiece softens the prevailing classic severity by its baroque appeal and its determination to seduce. In its own way, it is also a pioneer in the marriage between Haute Horlogerie and Haute Couture timekeeping.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato EVO 3

[ via Girard-Perregaux ]

Cool watch collection from Girard-Perregaux. These are probably the most affordable Girard-Perregaux watches I have ever seen. Starting around $11,000 this watch is not cheap, but it is low in comparison to their other collections.
