EBEL 1911 BTR QP Pink Gold

For lovers of contemporary architecture and devotees of mechanical watchmaking - including many who are proud to be both - Ebel introduces a stunningly inspired pink gold version of its 1911 BTR Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, issued in an exclusive limited edition of 200.

This spectacular face of this new landmark creation is strongly reminiscent of contemporary architectural achievements such as modern art museums with their large bay windows amid a metal frame creating an alternating pattern of glass and steel. The play on perspective as well as the clever lighting and volume effects all vividly evoke a contemporary work of architecture, while the elegantly understated and subtly contrasting choice of colors inexorably draws the gaze to the intricate workings of the watch mechanism below. The ultimate goal of such sophisticated structures being to highlight the objets d'art inside, it comes as no surprise to learn that the movement inside the alternating slate grey and black openworked dial is fully worthy of such a spectacular stage-setting.

EBEL 1911 Tekton Special Edition

ebel1911_cr_fr.jpg

[ via Ebel ]

This is one of the two special edition watches created to celebrate Ebel's partnerships with two major world soccer organizations: FC Arsenal and FC Bayern Munich. The version shown above is the Bayern Munich edition, of which there are only 250 available worldwide. Both special editions have Ebel Caliber 245 automatic chronograph movements with 45-minute period displays, with an overtime feature. The movement's oscillating weight is football shaped and each watch comes personalized with the corresponding club logo and edition number. There is even a counter for number of periods. Oh and this is not your standard Ebel case, they maxed this one out to 48.5 mm. The case and folding buckle both have a black treatment and the strap is a black technofiber.

The Ebel 1911 Tekton Limited Edition Bayern Munich retails for $12,900.

1911 Discovery Chronograph by EBEL

[ via Ebel ]

Here is the one of the new Ebel models from the 1911 Discovery collection. You can choose between 5 different strap designs: 1 black rubber, 1 brown calfskin, 2 stainless steel and a stainless with 18k gold accents. I personally think the black rubber or stainless steel is the way to go. The case is a respectable 43 mm with a water-resitance to 10 ATM. Ebel wanted to improve readability so they applied Super LumiNova to the hands and indexs. They also used separate windows for the day and date to make it really easy to read the day/date. Overall this line looks a lot like the 1911 BTR line and I am sure it will be just as successful. The bigger BTR line ranges from $4-$6k and the smaller Discovery line ranges $3K-$4k. Check them out at TheTimeZone.
