Citizen introduces the Eco-Drive Super Chronograph 1000 Calibre U700/U70, which can measure 1/1000th second. Not the first company to do it, TAG Heuer was the first, but still very impressive.

As well as split time, lap time and speed, the watch also displays average speed if the distance to be covered is input in advance.

When chronograph operations commence, small hands on the dial begin to rotate rapidly, while the same information is also displayed digitally. Together, the action of the hands and the digital display generate a feeling of speed and excitement.......

Citizen said it will buy all shares of Bulova Corp. from Loews Corp. for $246 million in January. Citizen wants to strengthen its wristwatch presence in the $200-$600 price range. A representative from Bulova Corp. said that this will help them expand in the U.S., which is the world's biggest market for watches. Bulova owns brand names Accutron, Caravelle and Wittnauer.

Here is the Citizen Attesa Limited Edition wristwatch. This particular watch sets itself using Atomic Radio Controlled technology just like the Oceanus line from Casio. I personally love Citizen watches, however for about the same price I think I would buy the new Oceanus Black Ion Plated Radio Contrlled 5 Motor wristwatch. I really really like Citizen watches because they are such a good value. Especially the ECO-Drive titanium wristwatches. They are accurate, never need a battery, they are very hard to scratch and they look pretty nice. Well this practical watch company has finally come out with what appears to be a mid to high end wristwatch called the Citizen Capanolas and I want one now. Considering they are the largest watchmaker in the world I would think they could sell these at a reasonable price, although I am guessing they will be between $700-$1000. If they look as good in person as they do in these high res images I would pay that amount.

Here is a photo of a Citizen's Calibre 2100 wristwatch. These Citizen watches have the typical ultra light titanium along with Solar powered ECO-Drive, but unlike the typical watches from Citizen these watches are now hand assembled. That is a nice step up considering they only have an MSRP of $600 and you can find them much cheaper online.
