EXCLUSIVE: CASIO G-Shock Riseman

CasioRiseman5__.jpg

[ via Casio ]

I recently received a test unit of the new Casio Riseman GW-9200. Here are some photos of the new top of the line G-Shock. This new model now has 6-band atomic timekeeping, meaning it can automatically calibrate the time as long as it is about 1800 miles from one of the 6 atomic clocks; Colorado, Germany, Japan, Japan, England or China.

Overall I really like the G-Shock line and I especially like the newer shape, which is slighty smaller and more ergonomic than the Classic G-Shock profile. Unfortunately some of the functions can be hard to use. I prefer functions that do not require reading any manuals. Regardless of the interface, the Riseman is a pretty good value at $220.

White Classic G-Shock by CASIO

casio_gshock_10.jpg

I received the Casio G-Shock Classic White DW6900FS-8 in the mail last week and have had some time to wear it around and get a basic impression. As usual I will make it very short. The adjustable buckle on the strap is very easy to use, although the material is not quite "natural rubber" quality, it is comfortable enough. The stop watch function is easy to use as are all other functions. This is a very basic "Classic" so it does not have Atomic timepkeeping, Altimeter, Barometer or any of the other high-tech G-Shock features.

What it does have is a very unique and recognizable style that is hard not to like. Almost every time I wear it out I receive a compliment on the style or the color. People, including myself, really like the white color. It goes better with short-sleeve shirts, as the case is a massive 53.2 x 50.0 x 16.3mm, and has hard time fitting under a long-sleeve shirt. It is also great for the beach or pool, because it is very durable and is water resistant to 660 feet.

If you want a really cheap, $89 retail, durable wristwatch to wear around the pool or beach this summer, you might want to consider this. BUY NOW

COMING SOON: Casio G-Shock Riseman

[ via Casio ]

UPDATE: (6.4.08) Forgot to mention that this watch has 6-Band Atomic Timekeeping

I have never been a huge Casio fan, although I have an Oceanus 5 Motor Black IP Chrono, but after the Basel Fair I have become much more of a fan. The watches that I never gave much notice to, the G-Shock line, are actually the watches that attracted me to Casio. The Casio G-Shock Riseman debuted in Basel this April and this is the watch that impressed me the most. It is big, and aside from GPS and a Compass, has almost all the functions available from Casio, all in one watch. The Casio G-Shock Riseman will be available June 28th, for $260.

Here are a few shots of the party Casio threw in New York earlier this week to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Casio G-Shock line. Kanye West performed and Spike Lee was there. I wish I could have gone. Hit the link above to see all some more images.
