Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Concept by TAG Heuer

[ via TAG Heuer ]

The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Concept is quite an impressive concept. Featuring a world first, the Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS is the only automatic chronograph capable of measuring and displaying 1/10ths of a second. A COSC-certified movement oscillates at a ultra high 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph), allowing the watch to measure 1/10th second intervals.

The Calibre 36 RS is housed in a 43 mm in diameter case which has a black titanium carbide coating. There are "black gold" accents all over the dial of the watch including the indexes, TAG Heuer logo and the hands. The two rotating systems indicating the chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock and the chronograph hours at 6 o’clock systems also use black gold. The watch also features a Linear seconds display a 9 o'clock.

Another innovative design element is the way the watch displays the information. TAG Heuer developed an exclusive Rotating scale that permits precise reading of 1/10th of a second, just watch the video, and you will see what I am talking about.

This concept watch is so exclusive that the design is featured on the dashboard of the limited edition Ken Okuyama designed K.O.7 sportscar, that was on display at the TAG booth this year at Baselworld. After seeing Ken's new design in person at Basel I was not surprised to read that he is the one who designed the famous Ferrari Enzo.

To add to the sporty automotive inspired design of the watch they added a caliper to the dial, which connects to the hour and minute counters at 3 and 6 o'clock. They even perforated the strap, to add to the sporty design.

The racing inspired "black gold" accented, ultra high precision 36,000 VPH COSC-certified 1/10th second chronograph, is by far one of the most desirable TAG Heuer watches I have ever seen.

TAG Heuer Meridiist Cell Phone

[ via TAG Heuer ]

It looks like the new TAG Heuer Meridiist is a high quality cell phone made of stainless steel and loaded with nice features like an OLED screen on the top, but at over $5000 you are paying a premium for exclusivity. Yes the phone is nice, but is five grand really the right price? I understand they are targeting the same price point as Vertu, but what makes either phone worth so much?

TAG Heuer Phone Wristwatch Rumor

[ via Dialaphone ]

Some websites are saying that a TAG Heuer wristwatch phone is in the works, but you can tell that these images are merely photoshop images. TAG Heuer may be developing a bluetooth and even an MP3 wristwatch, which would be pretty groundbreaking. However I would bet a a lot of money that the watch will only be able to control and display calls and texts.

TAG Heuer Monaco V4 Released at Baselworld

According to WristDreams at BaselWorld Tag Heuer announced the Monaco V4 is now available in a pre-series of 20 units. Two of them have been worn by Tag Heuer representatives at the BaselWorld 2007.

It is still a long way until the belt-driven timepiece will be available on the market though. The V4 pre-series is currently being put through intensive testing to meet Tag Heuer's quality standards. The aim is also to obtain a COSC chronometer certification for the Monaco V4. The first batch will probably cost an enormous amount of money for a TAG. The second prodcution will probably cost a lot also, as this watch utilizes a breakthrough toothed-belt movement which is only available through the TAG Heuer brand.

After the jump check out two more hi-res photos of the Monaco V4.

TAG Heuer Monaco Vintage Limited Edition

TAG Heuer

TAG Heuer's new Monaco Vintage Limited Edition. This watch has a decent look and I think the Monaco is their best line of watches.

First immortalized on Steve McQueen’s wrist in the 1970 racing film, Le Mans, the original Monaco, with its big, squared-off case and truly avant-garde Chronomatic Calibre 11—the first chronograph movement with an automatic micro-rotor mechanism—is a mythical icon of modern watchmaking history.

TAG Heuer Bluetooth Watches

I found this picture of TAG Heuer bluetooth enabled wristwatches on the web. I have been hearing rumors that TAG Heuer will be entering the cell phone market in the near future. What is even cooler is the wristwatches they appear to be planning to introduce. Even if I did not buy a TAG Heuer cell phone I would love to buy a bluetooth enabled wristwatch that is compatible with any bluetooth phone.

TAG Heuer Mercedes-Benz SLR Chrono

http://tagheuer.com

TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz – A New Limited Series

From zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of over 300 km/h, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, launched in 2003, is one of the world’s most powerful and exclusive sports cars.

Like the high-performance, luxury sports car that inspired it, the TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz is an audacious creation, blending Classicism and Avant-Garde, with an overall design that reflects the values of the “dream car”: power, performance, motor-racing spirit, innovation and elegance. Launched in a limited edition of 3,500 pcs, its pushbuttons are boldly positioned on the top of the case, ergonomically inclined at 45 degrees; a timekeeping scale is audaciously placed inside the case on a rotating, mechanic, unidirectional ring driven by a second crown at 9 o’clock. The exterior bezel, elegantly polished in black finish and engraved “SLR,” is thus able to feature a tachymeter, like those used by professional racers to calculate speed.

TAG Heuer's Calibre 360 Limited Edition

Here is a high-resolution image of one of TAG Heuer's new breaktrough 360 Calibre mdoels. This particular model in rose gold will cost $18,000 and is limited to 100 pieces. More importantly than the ridiculously priced rose gold models is the new movement that was done completely in-house. Watch experts said that it could not be done, but TAG Heuer has produced the first mechanical wrist chronograph to measure time to the 1/100th of a second. The balance wheel of the Carrera Calibre 360 beats 10 times faster than any other chronograph, a rate that was considered impossible until now. This watch sets a new standard and helps restore TAG Heuer's image as a mechanical watchmaker as opposed to a just a well marketed watch company in years past.

Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph

The “Carrera Panamericana” was an epic race that was started in the 1950s and attracted many of the leading drivers of the time. Juan Manuel Fangio, the famous Argentinian driver who was Formula 1 World Champion five times, won the race in 1953. To pay tribute to this unique adventure, in 1963 TAG Heuer launched the Carrera Chronograph that combined refinement with the spirit of sport. It was an immediate success. It has been modernised but still retains its sober elegance. The Carrera perfectly embodies the vibrant memory of the era of “Gentleman drivers.”

TAG Heuer Monaco Vintage Limited Edition

[ via TAG Heuer ]

To celebrate Steve McQueen’s 75th birthday, TAG Heuer is launching the Monaco Vintage Limited Edition, a new version of a chronograph world-renowned for its big, square case. The new version sports a white dial with the famous red, white, and blue bands of the driving suit that the late actor wore in the unforgettable film classic of 1970, Le Mans.

For his Porsche 917 Gulf driving scenes in Le Mans, Steve McQueen insisted that the props department procure him the complete driving suit of Jo Siffert, which, of course, included the Monaco chronograph. The famous Swiss driver and star of the 24-hour rally at Le Mans, Jo Siffert was the first of many ambassadors officially sponsored by TAG Heuer, and always proudly wore the brand logos and timepieces.

The presence of the Monaco on the actor’s wrist helped contribute to its legend, but it was above all its avant-garde style and its complete break with tradition that enabled it to become one of TAG Heuer’s most sought-after icons.

TAG Heuer Carrera Tachymeter Racing

[ via TAG Heuer ]

Since its creation by Jack Heuer in 1964, the Carrera chronograph has been one of TAG Heuer’s most iconic models, celebrated as much for its design as for its technological prowess. It derives its name from the Carrera Panamericana Mexico, a famously difficult car race of the 1950s, among whose participants was the legendary Argentinean driver Juan Manuel Fangio who won the last edition. Worn on the wrist by most F1 drivers in the 1970s, the Carrera has become the must-have chronograph of watch collectors and die-hard fans of motor racing.

TAG Heuer has recently released several new models of this emblematic timepiece, all in keeping with the elegant, sporty and authentic character of the original. Two new Carrera tachymeters were launched at the end of 2005: a model with chocolate-brown dial, tachymeter and bracelet; and a model with blue dial and tachymeter and steel bracelet.
