MOST WANTED: Officine Panerai 292 Radiomir Black Seal Ceramic

[ via Panerai ]

The PAM 292 aka Panerai Radimoir Black Seal Ceramic is one of the hottest watches from one of the most coveted watch brands. It was introduced last year, yet I still read blogs and forums where readers say they want one or they are so happy theirs just arrived. I do not know what it is about Panerai, maybe it is there association with Ferrari or maybe just their good looks, but regardless of the reason it is hard not to like Panerai. Panerai produced 1000 of these watches and of course all of them sold out immediately. The list price was between $6,200-$8,500, but I have heard of people who have paid much more to acquire one. Personally this is on my most wanted list and I hope they make more in the future.

I will feature images of Officine Panerai's new watches from SIHH 2008 later this week.

Hit the jump for one more image and a link to a good Panerai Forum/Gallery article.

Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT by OFFICINE PANERAI

[ via Officine Panerai ]

Panerai used the exclusive P.2005 calibre movement in creating their latest wristwatch, the Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT. This movement and watch were created entirely by Panerai in house. The tourbillon is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback and there is a small dial on the front dial which rotates every 30 seconds to indicate the tourbillon function. The other small dial on the right rotates every 24 hours and indicates AM or PM. This is one of Officine Panerai's most complicated wristwatches to date. If you really like this watch you will have to come up with a little over $100K and they are limited, so act fast.

FERRARI Granturismo Scuderia Chronograph

[ via Officine Panerai ]

This Granturismo Scuderia Special Edition Chrono by Ferrari was engineered by Officine Panerai, however the Ferrari logo is all that is displayed on the dial. The use of Ferrari red on the dial was a perfect choice for a company known for their red supercars. The prancing horse is proudly displayed on the dial along with three contrasting black chrono subdials. Panerai and Ferrari made a great decision to work together to create a watch line that represents Italy's best. More pics after the jump.

Luminor 1950 Submersible Depth Gauge by OFFICINE PANERAI

Officine Panerai originally supplied the first divers' watches and depth gauges to the Italian Navy back in the 1950's. Now Panerai has created the Luminor 1950 Submersible Depth Gauge, which combines both measuring devices in one instrument. This divers' watch has an automatic movement which is officially certified as a chronometer by the (C.O.S.C.). On top of the chronometer certification the depth gauge calibration has also been individually tested by the Swiss Federal Office for Metrology (METAS). The 47mm case is made of titanium and is water-resistant to 120m. The depth gauge operates from what is essentially an independent movement that is electronic for extreme accuracy and reliablitiy. The depth gauge is actually powered by a lithium battery and can be activated by a push-piece at 10 o'clock. The gauge even has a memory function to record your depth. This is a really nice watch with some really cool features. Read More....

Officine Panerai Luminor Regatta Rattrapante

Introduced at Baselworld here is the Officine Panerai Luminor 1950 Regetta Rattrapante, which will be produced in limited edition of 500. It should be available starting in May, the case measures 44 mm in diameter and it houses Panerai Calibre OP XVIII, an auto winder with column wheel created exclusively for Panerai. The movement can be viewed through a sapphire case back and it is water resistant to 100 meters. I really like the newer more modern look, but then again I like most Panerai watches.

Ferrari Watches Engineered By Officine Panerai

Here is an image of Ferrari and Panerai together. After the contract between Girard-Perreguax and Ferrari expired there has been a new union formed between two Italian manufacturers. The co-branding partnership between Panerai and Ferrari seems to be a much more logical partnership than the previous partnership with Girard-Perreguax. I liked the wristwatches that were created under the former partnership, however I would much rather spend my money on one of the new watches. Please check the Ferrari gallery at www.panerai.com, I think you will agree that these watches are far superior than the former Girard-Perregaux Ferrai watches.

    Panerai/Ferrari Wristwatches

    [ via Panerai ]

Cars and wristwatches are my two favorite things. It appears that watchmaker "Officine Panerai" and supercar builder "Ferrari" are co-branding a new line of wristwatches. I personally love to see watch companies and car companies working together to create more value among their brands. I have heard that Panerai has been losing sales to certain Italian based watchmakers, so I think this may be a crucial move. This watch looks really nice with the Ferrari logo on the dial and crown. Nice job guys!!!
