Here is a quote from the AK Geneve HMS Warp press release.

"Arny Kapshitzer (the "AK" of AK Geneva) had long been dreaming of rolling up his sleeves, getting his shirt wet, slogging his guts out, in short, of doing battle with watchmaking."

This concept watch should be available this November. Please hit the link to see one more picture and press release.

MOST WANTED: Oris Williams F1 Team Chronograph

Oris_F1_Dark_fr.jpg

[ via Oris ]

Oris recently introduced the new Williams F1 Team collection, at Baselworld 2008. The new F1 Team Chronograph has the same case dimensions 45 mm x 14 mm and the same reliable Valjoux 7750 movement as the outgoing model, but the new case is made of 316L stainless steel as opposed to titanium. The rubber bracelet appears to be unchanged, however the metal bracelet has been reshaped for a much cleaner look. The dial was changed from carbon fiber to a more refined black/rhodium finish, which looks great. The crystals are the same, a sapphire with an inner anti-reflective coating for the front and a mineral crystal for the caseback. The signature red Oris rotor remains visible through the caseback. The hands are now made of nickel, which further adds to the new look. To top it off Oris redesigned the lugs, making them more flexible, to ensure a close fit next to the wrist.

Basically Oris took a great watch, and made it better.

The F1 Team chronograph comes in four variations, with your choice of either a light or dark dial and a rubber strap or steel bracelet (the dark dial is pictured). The new Oris William F1 Team Chronographs Ref. 679 7614 41 64/74 RS should be available worldwide, for $2895 USD MSRP (rubber strap) and $2950 USD MSRP (steel bracelet), before the end of the year.

Chronofighter Oversize Diver Deep Seal by GRAHAM

chronofighter_cr_fr.jpg

[ via Graham ]

The new Graham Chronofighter was inspired by the English fighting forces, and although it is called a Diver, it was originally designed for combat pilots, wearing gloves. That is the reason for the massive left-handed fast-action start/stop lever. The 47 mm case is stainless steel with a PVD carbide treatment. The dial is black and orange and the caseback is solid, with the royal marine crown emblem. The movement is automatic mechanical G1732. The watch is a diver watch, even though it was originally intended for use by pilots, and has a water-resistance of 1000 meters. It is currently available for a retail price of $11,000 USD.

Oris TT3 Chronograph Black

OrisTT3_1_fr.jpg

[ via Oris ]

The TT1 line has always been my favorite Oris collection, mainly because of the clean lines, beautiful design and affordable price. The new TT3 chrono, like the TT1, has a great design and affordable price. The biggest change, aside from the colors, is the shape of the case and pushers. The new design fits even more comfortably on your wrist.

This TT3 features an automatic mechanical chronograph movement, housed in a 44.5 mm black-plated titanium case. It is water-resistant to 100 M, has a quick-lock crown function and a carbon fiber dial. Superluminous coating is applied to the hands, indices, subdials and small seconds hand. Your only option is a rubber strap with folding clasp, which is the only way it should be. It is available now for $3750.

Hublot and Spanish Football Team

Hublot_Euro_fr.jpg

[ via Hublot ]

Hublot's campaign within the scope of Euro 2008 was a runaway success; its partnership deal with the Spanish football team signed at the beginning of June is all the more successful in the light of Spain's victory last Sunday.

Following its debut in the world of football with the Swiss team, then its engagement as the "official watch" of Euro 2008, Hublot linked up with the Mexican Football Federation and latterly with the Spanish team, now winner of the title! We like to think that the watch we created for the Spanish Federation brought them luck.

Big Bang 44 mm mechanical chronograph, black ceramic case and bezel, matt black dial with red appliqué index markers, FEF logo at 9 o'clock, Spanish flag on the case edge, limited edition 250 pieces.

Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA by ROLEX

SeaDeep_fr.jpg

SeaDeep-2_fr.jpg

SeaDeep-4_fr.jpg

[ via Rolex ]

The Rolex Sea-Dweller, always my favorite Rolex, debuted at Baselworld 2008 with the new designation, "DEEPSEA". Its name comes from the "Deep Sea Special", the experimental prototype that in 1960 reached a depth of 10,916 metres in the Mariana Trench. For 2008 the engineers at Rolex SA made the Sea-Dweller bigger, more water-resistant and essentially changed about everything, except the ultra reliable 3135 in-house movement.

MSRP $8999

Here is a full list of the changes made to the original Sea-Dweller:

  • The updated case is slightly larger at 43mm in diameter.
  • The crystal is now a domed sapphire.
  • An all new ceramic bezel was added, the numerals and the graduations are filled with platinum through the use of a PVD technique patented by Rolex.
  • The zero marker of the graduated bezel, represented by a triangle, is visible longer due to a capsule containing a new luminescent material that emits a blue glow.
  • To enhance legibility, the indexes and hands are wider and partially coated with the same new luminescent material and also emit a blue colour.
  • The movement features a new Parachrom hairspring with high resistance to shocks and magnetic fields.
  • The case back is made of a titanium alloy, an extremely resistant stainless material. It is held in place against the high-performance ring by means of a 904L-steel ring.
  • A nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel ring was added to help withstand the pressure exerted by water on the crystal and the case back.
  • A new Glidelock clasp allows for fine adjustments to the bracelet length, up to 18 mm by increments of 1.8 mm, without removing the watch. (pictured above)

A. Lange & Söhne Saxony Grand Automatik

Saxomat_cr_fr.jpg

[ via Horomundi ]

I have to admit, until recently, I have never paid much attention to A. Lange & Söhne watches. What really sparked my curiosity is the nice photo (pictured above), that a collector sent in over at the Horomundi watch forums. Personally I think the Datograph and Saxony lines are their best looking collections, but it is hard to tell, without seeing them in person. I have not had the opportunity to view any of their collection in person, although I plan on doing so very soon.
